CLUB AGM & SPRING COFFEE MORNING
Our Annual General Meeting will be held at the Sarisbury Green Community Centre from 1030 to 1200 in February/March each year. The AGM Agenda and previous minutes will be in the ‘Members Only’ section of the website.
CLUB & UNIVERSAL MARINA SOCIAL EVENTS
During the year, there are often Universal Marina Open Days, Universal Berth holders Parties, and the UMYC Summer party at the Marina, combined with a new members’ event.
Details will be announced in the regular club newsletters.
UMYC CLUB ANNUAL DINNER
The annual dinner has become a fixture in our calendar and is normally held in October. Keep an eye out for the details when announced in the regular club newsletters.
UMYC CHRISTMAS COFFEE MORNING
In early December, we will have the UMYC Christmas coffee morning at Sarisbury Green from 10:30 – complete with hot sausage rolls.
PREMIER MARINA BERTH HOLDERS
As all UMYC members are also Premier berth holders, it is worth reminding members to ensure they are on the Premier Marinas Universal mailing list. These emails contain some valuable information and events. These include the open days and other berth holder party events.
The current team at Universal is very supportive of UMYC and actively promotes our club. Similarly, we will try to support their events and, where appropriate, include them in our diary listings.
One aspect worth noting is that, through the marina’s list of on-site tenants, many do provide preferential treatment and, in some cases, discounts when berth holders use their services – try mentioning that you are a berth holder AND a member of UMYC and see if you have an even more favourable response!
PROMOTING UMYC
We realise not all boats can fly a club burgee as intended, so we have UMYC stickers to clearly show that you belong to an RYA-affiliated club. These are available either behind glass or fixed to exterior fibreglass. They are a similar size to the Hamble River licence, so they will not spoil your looks. These are available from the committee members.
NEW MEMBERS
Our club actively encourages new members amongst the berth holders at Universal Marina, and we do wish to expand the club to provide the extra social aspect at what we consider a very friendly marina. New members can find out more from this website We will welcome new members via these regular emails, and if they can provide a photo of their boat, we can all have a better introduction and expand our social networks. On a pontoon and not knowing anyone can be isolating, so we do encourage the social side of boating – even if meeting up in Mermaid’s for a coffee.
All new members are invited to join our ‘on the water’ WhatsApp group. This provides up-to-date news from rallies, members’ current voyages and similar social chatter.
